Intro Blog
My name is Naliah Nettles, a 17 year old senior at Fort Lauderdale High, and I welcome you back to my adventures in Media Studies, this time at the A level! Last year was an incredible experience, but certainly a rollercoaster of ups and downs. Battling inexperience, other classes, and unreliable crews, I've learned a few things from the previous year I plan to use to my advantage this year to make something amazing. Not only has my experience in filming changed, but my personal life, such as hobbies, have changed as well. Instead of two bearded dragons, I've gone down to one, due to medical complications. A small backyard funeral was held over the summer to commemorate him, and his aquarium cleaned to eventually house my younger dragon. As for my chihuahua Chico, he hasn't changed much in the last year, but on a routine veterinary visit I learned he is a few years older than I thought. Originally, I was told he was 4 years old, however according to the vet, he may be closer to seven or eight. While a bit of a shock, it doesn't change how much I love having him around. As for other hobbies, I enjoy writing, reading, and playing video games. I write poetry and short stories, which I believe helps me when it comes to script writing. I'm used to short novels, typically about dogs or fun, light-hearted adventures. When it comes to video games, I like platformers and puzzle or strategy games such as Super Mario Bros and Pikmin. An old hobby of mine is photography, which still helps me with filming even if I haven't done much photography lately. On the subject of filming, my aunt, Sarah Brown, is still in film school aiming to be a director. This relates to myself because she is extremely supportive of my own filming career and often likes to help me with scripts, shots, and equipment. In turn, I help her with her own scripts and advice on storytelling. Sound and editing, which remain my weak points in filming, are something I plan to focus on this year. I hope to get permission to use a more name notable soundtrack for my projects this year, to both elevate my film and personal experience in communicating with larger companies. As for editing, I plan to use my old footage to practice while I edit together a bloopers reel of all the outtakes from my last short film. With all this, I hope you enjoy what I cook up this year!
