Last Minute Changes That Don't Really Change Much

This marks the second to last day of filming for my project. This was an exciting moment for everyone involved. Getting closer to the end of the project gives a good motivational boost for me and the actors. This may lead to more enthusiasm in the actor's acting and me in my editing and shooting.

This day of shooting started with complications but ended rather well. As I do every filming day, I texted my actors before the set filming time to confirm they were ready to go. Claire confirmed after around fifteen minutes, but as it hit an hour before noon, our planned filming time, I began to worry about Sofia's attendance. I had planned to film page 5 of my storyboard this day which absolutely needed both of my actors on set. When Sofia did respond she called me to say she confused her schedule and had to cancel. At first I was frustrated. It's hard not to be when someone cancels on you and you have to change your schedule. However, I remembered that there were only two filming days left. It would be incredibly simple to swap plans for the days. So, I did just that. My original plan for the last day of filming was to cover any missing shots and reshoot any shots I felt needed to be redone. This was easy to do without Sofia as all the scenes I wanted to reshoot were from the first two pages, neither of which including Sofia's characters. This also worked because I had a lot of scenes to reshoot. Halfway into the filming process I switched the purse I wanted the Kid to have, meaning I had to reshoot most of the shots in the first half. It's very important to maintain continuity through the film, so it had to be redone regardless of time. The filming itself went well. I assumed we wouldn't finish everything but we did with time to spare. This was most surprising because we only had an hour to film that day, and we finished filming nearly two pages of storyboard. Typically, it would take an hour per page of storyboard, sometimes even more than that. I can attribute our timeliness to a lack of distraction. Claire and myself are both prone to distraction, but it seemed that day we were both too tired to let our minds wander. I'm excited to review the footage from this session and replace the older footage.
