The Changes Made So Far

At the beginning of this process I had a somewhat loose and very different idea of how my project would look at this point. Now, that view has changed a few times. I thought it would be beneficial to catalogue all of my changes thus far and reflect on them.

My first big change was my actors. I originally planned to include myself, Sofia O'Connel-Zamakis, and Nadia Ahktar. Sofia and Nadia are my two best friends, and Sofia has acting experience, so I thought it would be a good fit. However, as I talked to Nadia she expressed her anxieties about availability and acting ability. I agreed with her, it would be better to leave her outside of such an important role, and removed her from my actors list. Her reserves about her acting ability reminded me of my own stage fright. I would be a much better fit behind the camera, but having only me and Sofia still available I thought I wouldn't have a choice. This is when I found out another friend of mine, Clarita Pavillard, who also goes by Cee, was a drama student. This comes with the experience and ability I need, and after a quick discussion, I found her availability was open as well. This became a perfect opportunity to sign myself out of the actors list. I cast Sofia as the Demon and Survivor and Clarita as the Kid.

Another change I went through in this process was the location for filming, or more accurately, locations. I originally had planned for four filming locations, Veteran's Park, Oakland Park suburbs, Royal Palm Park, and Easterlin Park. I quickly discovered this was too broad and ambitious for me. I had temporarily overlooked my two minute time limit and planned to have the characters run through parks and streets while being chased. This fell apart with the distance they would be running, as well as the dangers of running in the street and the inevitable heat that comes with filming in Florida. Veteran's Park was also a little too far from my house and Royal Palm Park was too public. Narrowing the location to Easterlin Park alone allowed for more control and privacy.
