WikiHow To Edit
This is the first editing blog for our commercial and my first time editing anything ever. I have no idea where to begin with editing, but I trust I can receive advice from my partner and Google. The goal for editing today is to have one video all together instead of the several parts that are separated by scene. This will make editing transitions and adding the appropriate music all the easier. This will also improve cooperation, as it is much easier to send one file back and forth instead of six. To achieve this goal, I will have to review all of the footage with my partner and choose the best takes for the project. By the end of filming, there were numerous takes for each scene of the commercial, multiple of which were useable, which makes narrowing it down difficult. Additionally, I am terrible at making decision, so this will be a challenge in and of itself. However, I am confident that I can move past this minor issue and continue to edit the commercial with little issue. As it turned out, my partner was out today because of a stomach bug. She had slept most of the day, so I had to begin editing after school when she woke up. When she did wake up, I called her and our work began. Sofia, considering she had all the takes and an editing software on her computer, did most of the editing. I provided advice on which clips to use and commentary on the final product. The editing process turned out easier than I anticipated, and after the editing software booted up the actual editing didn't take long at all. Granted, we were only joining takes together into one video, but regardless, the process was painless. After editing the clips together, I discussed with my partner what background music and sound effects we should consider. I didn't reach a solid conclusion but this got ideas flowing and some options to consider. For our next editing session, the time it takes to pick a song should be greatly reduced. At the end of the day, more progress was made than I anticipated, and in less time than I had planned for.
