Finally Finished Filming!

Today marks our second and final day of filming for our commercial. Thankfully, we had no costume malfunctions or missing props. Although the Snickers bar we used was the same one from our first filming session, and the only one we had, so it got a bit difficult filming Sofia eating it aggressively. We had a limited amount of takes we could film considering how small the Snickers bar would get after eve
ry bite, but we managed to get enough. Instead of setting up our camera, today I did most of the camera work. I filmed the final two parts with Sofia acting as the bully while she filmed my final quick lines. The best part about holding the camera for most of our shoot was being able to sneak pictures and videos of Sofia between takes. Most of them don't look like much, but I caught a video of her dancing at the beginning of our filming session that I am proud of. Unfortunately, she deleted the video before I could send it to myself. Despite this, I'm still determined to retrieve that video to save to look back on when we are older. Our filming only took half an hour today, which I attribute to the abundance of practice we had the past Thursday. It could also be because we were forced to shorten the number of takes for the scene with the bully eating the Snickers due to our lack of extra candy bars. The best part about finishing filming early is avoiding the lunch rush which causes a major increase in foot traffic near our filming location and noise. We still caught many kids stalking through the backgrounds of our shots, more than the previous filming session, but I would say this is because of our close proximity to the bathroom. One group didn't realize we were filming a commercial and took their own phones out and started filming me, as I was preparing to deliver one of my lines for Sofia. I felt incredible stage fright, but after we explained that we were filming a commercial they were quick to leave. Afterward, me and Sofia shared a laugh about the experience. After we finished filming, we both decided to take the remaining hour of to relax and finish other work. We had already gone over all of our takes when we were outside filming, so we had time to spare. If there was one lesson I could take from today it would be to secure backup props before filming. All in all, this was an extremely successful day of filming and here's hoping our good fortune carries over into the editing process.
